An old church on the mountains.

I am always fascinated by old churches, built centuries ago, according to our tradition,  by local masons and craftsmen, most of them self-taught, as this one. It is what is remaining from an old monastery, in a small village on Mt Pindos in northern Greece. Unfortunately, I found the church locked so I could not take a few photographs from the inside.

Built with work worn hands but great pride I"m sure. Costas, do you have any idea the age of this beautiful old church? I'm sorry you could not get inside. Maybe next trip!
Bon dimanche,

Beautiful to see the exterior workmanship that went into this old church and so many others of its kind. I wonder if the inside would still reveal its beauty as it does look rather abandoned from these photos.

What a beautiful church - would love to know more about it and why the windows appear bricked in! Such a sense of history here. Have a good week F

Welcome back!

I like this old church, the fact that it's made of red bricks. I also imagine that the interior must be beautiful too. At least some paintings resisted the time, I presume.
