Easter and Spring. Πάσχα και Ανάσταση.

Christian Orthodox Churches around the world are celebrating Easter tomorrow.Sometimes, Easter is celebrated the same Sunday by all Christians sometimes not. It has something to do with the fact that some churches are using different calendars and methods to calculate when Easter has to be celebrated. This year we are celebrating one month later. For all Christians the meaning of Easter is the same, no matter when we are celebrating. And nature is also celebrating the spring at the same time. I wish you all Happy Easter even though I am a month late for some friends.

Οι Ορθόδοξοι Χριστιανοί γιορτάζουν το Πάσχα αυτή την Κυριακή. Καμμιά φορά, το Πάσχα γιορτάζεται την  ίδια Κυριακή από όλους, άλλες φορές πάλι όχι. Έχει να κάνει με τον τρόπο και την μέθοδο που χρησιμοποιούν οι διάφορες Εκκλησίες και με τα ημερολόγια, για να υπολογίσουν πότε πρέπει να γιορτάζεται το Πάσχα. Δεν έχει σημασία όμως . Όποτε και να γιορτάζεται, το μήνυμα της Ανάστασης είναι για όλους το ίδιο. Και η φύση γιορτάζει μαζί μας την Ανάσταση και έχει φορέσει τα γιορτινά της. Καλή Ανάσταση σε όλους.

Singing in the rain. Τραγουδώντας στην βροχή.

One of the most frequent visitors of the trees in our backyard is Mr Blackbird. Every morning starts his singing outside my window, no matter if the weather is good or it is raining. My problem is that it is not always easy to get a clear shot at him as he is sitting between the branches of the tree and that is confusing the autofocus of my camera. Some times I am using manual focus to take a decent shot.

 Από τους πιο συχνούς επισκέπτες του κήπου που βρίσκεται πίσω από το διαμέρισμά μας είναι ο κότσυφας. Κάπου στον κήπο πρέπει νάχει την φωλιά του. Και κάθε πρωί, βρέχει δεν βρέχει βρίσκεται έξω από το παράθυρό μου και τραγουδάει. Το πρόβλημάμου όμως είναι πως δεν μπορώ πάντα να τραβήξω καθώς πρέπει φωτογραφίες επιδή βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στα κλαδία και έτσι μπερδεύεται ο μηχανισμός αυτόματης εστίασης της μηχανής μου. Αλλά καμμιά φορά γυρνάω στην χειροκίνητη εστίαση και κάτι καταφέρνω.

Blackbirds. Κοτσύφια

There is this family of blackbirds living and nesting in the garden behind my apartment. A few days ago I caught them feeding on the little black berries of the laurel tree of the garden. The photographs are not as good as they should be, as I was trying to shoot them between the branches of another tree that was between us. Of the two birds I am showing, the one with the black beak is the female and the one with the yellow beak is the male.

Στον κήπο πίσω απο το διαμέρισμά μου, ζει αυτή η οικογένεια κοτσυφιών. Πριν από λίγες μέρες τα πέτυχα να τρώνε τους καρπούς της δάφνης που είναι και αυτή στον κήπο. Το θηλυκό είναι αυτό με την μαύρη μύτη και το αρσενικό με την κίτρινη. Οι φωτογραφίες δεν είναι και πολύ καλές επειδή προσπαθούσα να τις τραβήξω ανάμεσα απο τα κλαδιά ενός άλλο δένδρου που βρισκόταν ανάμεσά μας.

Updates on the Blackbirds. Νεώτερα από τους κοτσυφούς.

This morning they were both busy in building their nest. I saw where they    were 

working on it but did not dare go close as they might abandon it. They were collecting mud and

little pieces of grass for the nest and were not so shy for me and the camera today.

The male (the one darker) looked like he was posing for the camera as he was sitting on top of the pole.

He was facing away and when i whistled, he turned around and looked at me.

Σήμερα το πρωί το ζευγάρι ήταν πολύ απασχολημένο να χρίζει την φωλιά του στονφράχτη του κήπου. Είδα που δούλευαν αλλά δεν θέλησα να πλσιάσω μην τυχόν και φύγουν.Μάζευαν λάσπη και χορταράκια από το δρόμο και τον κήπο για να την τελειώσουν. Ήταν κάπως πιο άνετα μαζύ μου σήμερα. Μάλιστα ο αρσενικός, (ο μαύρος)  όταν του σφύριξα, γύρισε και πόζαρε στήν κάμερα από την κορυφή του στύλου.

 

 

 

 

 

Blackbird. Ο κότσυφας.

I hear him singing every morning and only today i managed to take a couple of shots.

He must have his nest somewhere close as i see him coming and going.

Κάθε πρωί με τρλλαίνει με τις μελωδίες του και μόλις σήμερα κατάφερα να του

τραβήξω δυο-τρείς φωτογραφίες. Πρέπει νάχει την φωλιά του κάπου στον φράχτη αφού πηγαινοέρχεται όλη τη μέρα.
