Mt. Pelion, Greece.

Ancient Greeks used to worship places with exceptional natural beauty. They were making myths about rivers, lakes, mountains, natural phenomena etc. One such place still carrying its ancient beauty is Mt. Pelion of central Greece. Its woods were inhabited by the Centaurs, half men and half horses, the beautiful Nymphs were dancing by the streams and waters, and the Satyrs were chasing them all the time. From here, the Argonauts started their long trip to bring the Golden Fleece home. And the myths never end. And the old beauty, magic and mystery of the place remains.
Last weekend I made a quick trip there with  friends, to do some things at the house they keep there. I took the opportunity to take a few photographs for you while I was there. Unfortunately only on the first afternoon was not raining and had the chance to take some decent photographs. And I took most, from the back seat of the car as we were climbing up. Even then, the low clouds did not allow me to take more photographs of the beautiful mountain. The mountain is covered by olive trees at lower levels, and higher they give way to other vegetation, like woods, apple and pears yards, chestnut trees, and shrubs.

P.S. It is worth to check the above links to read about all those myths from ancient Greece.

I love Greek mythology, Costas. It's nice to see pictures of where the stories were set. My favorite myth? Amor and Psyche, of course! :)
