There is only one Saronic Gulf. Σαρωνικός κόλπος υπάρχει μόνον ένας.

This is it. The Saronic Gulf. South of Athens and between the eastern coast of Peloponnese and Attica.It took its name from Saron, mythical king of Troizina. All around the coasts and the islands in the gulf itself, were inhabited and covered with ancient cities, like Athens, Piraeus, Elefsis, Aegina, Corinth and other, and sacred locations and famous temples like cape Sounion.
The photographs, taken during my walk on Mt Imittos, on the eastern side show the gulf in all its glory in the light of the low winter sun over the western horizon. The nearby island is Aegina and a little further to the west is the eastern coast of Peloponnese.

Αυτός είναι. Ο Σαρωνικός κόλπος. Νότια από την Αθήνα, ανάμεσα από τις ανατολικές ακτές της Πελοποννήσουν και την Αττική. Πήρε το όνομά του απο τον μυθικό βασιλιά της Τροιζήνας τον Σάρωνα.
Από την αρχαιότητα ήταν ονομαστός και τις ακτές και τα νησιά του κοσμούσαν ονομαστές πόλεις, ιερά και ναοί.  Τί να πρωτοθυμηθώ. Αθήνα, Πειρεάς, σούνιο, Ελευσίνα, Αίγινα, Κόρινθος και τόσα άλλα.
Τις φωτογραφίες τις τράβηξα πριν λίγες μέρες στην βόλτα που έκανα στον Υμηττό και δείχνουν τον Σαρωνικό σ' όλο του το μεγαλείο. Ο χαμηλός χειμωνιάτικος ήλιος πάνω από τον ορίζοντα στα δυτικά,  τον βαφει με τα χρυσαφένια χρώματά του. Και φαίνονται όμορφα η Αίγινα και οι βόρειες ακτές της ανατολικής Πελοποννήσου.
