Easter 2012.

It is Easter Sunday for the Greek Orthodox people tomorrow. We should be celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the rebirth of nature and hope. We all should be celebrating the beauty of nature. Under normal circumstances. But nothing is normal any more. At least not here. Some have made sure of that. They have moved us back to the middle ages. New, economic occupation has been forced upon the Greek people. During the last few decades, incompetent, corrupt and negligent administration has forced Greece into this economic chaos. The international and european bankers and governments, were aware of what was going on here, but they continued to accept the situation, because that was their plan. To have Greece and its people, always in debt. They wanted everyone dependent in them for life. Now we shall be, for generations to come.
People here, instead of being happy and celebrating tomorrow, will be dependent on others, on charity, for a dish of food. And it not their fault. Decent, working people, had made their plans for the future, they had their home, or had bought one with loans they could afford to pay back as they were all having their jobs and salaries. What do they have now? All family members unemployed, losing their homes, after losing their jobs, no income, no Easter meal for them and their families.
Cries of despair for help are heard everyday. The Church is asking us to bring food for the homeless, for those in need. We are all trying to help as best as we can. We have to sit tight, all united together, in solidarity for the hard times. Because these times are not easy for all of us. We have survived before and we shall overcome these difficulties again. If we are united against the storm.
I wish times were better for everyone. Then I would not mind to show you all how we used to be celebrating these days. How the Greek people used to enjoy the spring, life, celebrate Easter with special traditional meals for the day, singing and dancing.
I know this post should be more cheerful and happy, as the days call. But it is not easy to do so.
Still I think I should have said all this.

PS. The singer at the end of this post is saying : "How can I be silent.."

My heart aches for your country, its people, you and your family! These are indeed such sad times everywhere and the cause in nearly all cases are the inept, destructive people in our governments. I will be holding good thoughts for you and yours this weekend, as always! Your photos are incredible and the beauty of the flowers eases any pain. Happy Easter, Costas, to you and your family!
