At a refueling/coffee stop, as we were driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. This train was gpoing on for miles. It loked like it would never end.
Καθ'οδόν από το Λος Άντζελες προς το Λας Βέγκας. Αυτό το τραίνο εμοιαζε να μην θέλει να τελειώσει ποτέ. Ήταν χιλιόμετρα μακρύ.
Entering the Mojave desert. Wild beauty.
Μπαίνοντας στην έρημο Μοχάβε. Άγρια ομορφιά.
Another long train. Κι άλλο τραίνο μακρυνάρι.
Some cacti started showing up.
Άρχισαν να εμφανίζονται μερικοί κάκτοι.
..And the "Mad Greek". You can find them at all sorts of places.
..Και ο "τρελλός Έλληνας". Μπορεί να τους βρεί κανείς στα πιο απίθανα μέρη.
All above photographs except the first one, were taken from inside the car as we were driving along route 15 from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. I loved the scenery, the clear blue skies and clear air of the desert.
Όλες οι φωτογραφίες, εκτός από την πρώτη, τραβήχτηκαν μέσα από το αυτοκίνητο, όπως πηγαίναμε κατά μληκος του δρόμου 15 από τος Αντζελες προς το Λας Βέγκας. Μ' άρεσε το σκηνικό της ερήμου, ο μπλέ ουρανός και ο καθαρός αέρας.

Marvelous captures, Costas! I love the desert and blue skies, too! What a wonderful trip you had -- the wealthy California neighborhood, the shallow, but amusing Las Vegas and the awesome beauty of the desert! There is something so surreal about driving through a desert with cacti and wide open blue sky. Bet it felt wonderful to see the "uncluttered sky and landscape" after leaving Las Vegas:)

I took that drive across the desert in '75... temps were 113! HOT!
I echo Dawn's comment. I bet it felt free and unencumbered after the very populated and people-oriented Vegas. :) Beautiful and harsh country.
We have driven across Nevada to Reno a couple of times from SLC, Ut. Long, long, drive - not much to see but open space and desert - weren't even any trees or sagebrush on the hillsides.
The desert is pretty amazing. Have you seen it out there when it starts to get dark? It's so peaceful. Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures. It's been a long time since I have been out there.

It is very relaxing to look at your Mojave Desert photos. I like the colors. I've never seen a "Mad Greek" in Tucson. :)

I'm sure you saw the "larges thermometer in the world" across the street from the "Mad Greek."
We have been promised a high speed train across the desert from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for many years. I wonder if it will ever happen. I also love the desert...
