Lilac(Syringa) blooming.

I went downtown Athens this morning top meet some friends. I was a little early and had time to take some pictures outside the new Acropolis Museum of Athens and of the Acropolis. I am starting this series of posts,  by showing you a lilac or syringa tree in full bloom, just under the Acropolis rock. For this series i used the Nikon D60 camera with the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens and also used a daylight filter 81A, more for lens protection. The photographs are displayed here as there were taken, except resizing and smearing some faces when required.

The lilac trees look beautiful against the blue sky. Looking forward to more pictures of the Acropolis.

The lilac's blooming appear prolific in the photo with many blooms -- it must have smelled heavenly while you snapped the photos. How fortunate you are to have access and live in such an ancient city. In the last few photo's the Acropolis of Athens perched on the top of that steep rock outcrop right above the museum, I believe Zeus and Plato and others would be pleased.

Thank you for your nice comments Diane.
Joanny you have a poetic approach to everything. You are a born poet. And yes.. the lilac's perfume filled my nostrils when i was shooting the close ups but one could smell it from further away also. What I am planning to do with this series, is to reveal you Acropolis little by little. As you can see in my photographs, the first glimpse of it is between the lilacs branches.. then the flowers move and the blooming tree step aside to reveal the beauty of the Holy Rock. And the deep blue sky of Attica covering it.
There is more to be revealed in my following posts.

You've taking another very pleasing series of pictures. I really love the lilacs, especially the close-ups. The air in Athens looks so clear! Is it getting better? I thought Athens was still hazy and smoggy.

The beautiful blooms of the lilac trees, the delicious hints of the ruins beyond ... then to see the Acropolis right there ... absolutely astounding.

I love your lilacs. They look different from ours, I wonder if they smell the same?
