A smile.

We did not have a lot of things. Maybe some of us had a few more than others. Those who had a little more, had not stolen it. They had worked for it. One way or another. But most of us could walk proudly with our head up, not ashamed of anything. And we all were wearing a smile on our faces. No matter the difficulties we were smiling all the time. Now, we are being told that we cant have that any more. We are being told that we must pay for what we had, we must pay for what others have stolen or for the mismanagement of others. Now people cannot live anymore in dignity. They cannot walk with their heads up any more. We can not have that smile on our faces any more. The smile is now disappearing from our faces. But we cannot afford, we cannot allow it to disappear from the faces of our children.

She is beautiful beyond words and her smile comes from within. The light in her eyes says something about her trust in the photographer... I agree, we cannot allow this smile to disappear from a child.

Your portrait of her will be a treasure forever.

Heartbreaking words, but you need to say them. A beautiful child with a future ahead of her we all hope, will be as bright as her precious smile. You have managed to capture not only her beauty, but her happiness in a very special moment. Something to cherish. For a photographer it doesn't get any better than this!

She is indeed beautiful beyond words! And such a breathtaking smile and wonderful eyes! Definitely a treasure forever! All of our children deserve much more and much better than what we are leaving them at this point in history. Such a very moving post, Costas! Thank you!

What to say about Greece? I don't know.

What to say about that smile? I wish I had one like it!

I have no comforting words for Greece - as the U.S. may not be far behind! But the smile on her face is worth a million bucks. How beautiful!

I understand you, Costas, perfectly. More and more, in many countries in the world, people do not count for their governants. Some of them are proud and courageous people, like you, the Greeks are! I admire you for this. Others, are not very good to unite and oppose the governants, like we are, and this is not necesarely our fault but the fault of those who turned us so! The times are bad for the mankind. But we must nurture the hope, we must not renounce.

The portrait is wonderful!

Hi Costas, and so right you are. Even when adults cannot act like the adults that they should, when the Big People take from us, we must always look for the hope and the spirit found in the faces and smiles of the children and then we can smile as well. Take care~
