March 26th 2011. The Hour of the Earth. 26 Μαρτίου 2011. Η Ώρα της Γής

Every year we dedicate one hour to remember what we have done to the earth and mourn for it. Then, satisfied as we have done our duty, we can resume what we stopped doing. For the remaining 8,760 hours of the year with renewed zeal, we continue to exploit, destroy, rape and violate and abuse the earth again.

This was something to think about Costas.
Have a nice weekend. It has stopped snowing here for a short while, but more snow is expected.
Greetings,
Berit.

Sad...but true.
We were given this earth to care for.
Unfortunately- we haven't lived up to our part.

Man will end up being his own demise - and maybe the earth's too - but then, I remember that God is still in control, and he'll allow things to go just so far . . .

Our poor planet, surely we can do better at taking care of our home. Great post for raising awareness of Earth Hour!

Thank you, Costas, for a wonderful, and much needed, reminder of what we have and what we are destroying year by year in this sad, beautiful world.
Have a wonderful evening and a great weekend!

Sylvia

"A planet does not explode of itself," said wryly one Martian astronomer to the other. "That they were able to do so reveals that highly intelligent beings must have been living there."

I read this back when I was ... well a long, long time ago (30 plus years). It has stuck with me all these years.

Great to see an Earth Hour post. This idea was started in Sydney in 2007 and it's amazing how it has spread across teh whole world now. If only people cared more than just for one hour.

Well said, and frightfully true.
Will we ever learn?
