Las Vegas. The city of excess. (I) Λας Βέγκας. Η πόλη της υπερβολής(I)

After the overwhelming experience of Grand Canyon, I was hesitating to upload photographs from Las Vegas. We had to stay there as we used the city as a base for visiting Grand Canyon. I cannot compare it with any other place I have seen. Everything looks so excessive and fake. And, depending on anyone's gusto, kitsch. The time I was there, they were celebrating the Chinese New Year. The Year of the Rabbit. And everywhere we went, the decorations were dedicated to the event. At least, they were colorful. The first photographs I am uploading, were taken from inside the car, as we were driving along the streets towards our hotel.

Excess is what Las Vegas is all about. There are things to love there and things to hate also.

Ah, I can only repeat what Pat has said -- there are some fun things there, but it certainly is not a favorite place of mine -- it is so fake, so empty and useless and, yes, things to hate! I like to think we can find more beauty, more joy in many other places! Enjoy the remainder of your week, Costas1

Gaudy and glitzy, and over the top. There's only one Las Vegas!
Your pics are great, Costas, looking forward to seeing more.

Costas...one look only at these images and then look at your gorgeous seascapes beneath and then say...where would I rather spend time, if I could. Las Vegas is right here and I have never desired visiting. We shall have to drive very near on our vacation next September, but we shall just leave it there~ Your images are quite good at showing it off though;)

Excessive is the best way to describe Las Vegas. We have been there several times and enjoy parts of the city. It is a good place to stay while exploring the surrounding area.
