Under the eyes of Poseidon. Υπό το βλέμμα του Ποσειδώνα.

A hot day in Athens today. And it was a public holiday also. Everything is closed. For some it was an long weekend. For others another day of holidays. But for everyone an opportunity to escape to the sea, find some beach either close or a little further away from Athens. I decided to take some friends you are on holidays in here, to cape Sounion and go to the beach under the Temple of Poseidon there. It is not exactly my idea of going to the beach as it was crowded as you can see, especially after those beaches i had been at the island of Kythera, but I like the area and the idea of having the god Poseidon (Neptune), looking at us from up there. Ζεστή μέρα στην Αθήνα σήμερα. Και με την ευκαιρία της αργίας του δεκαπενταύγουστου, μικροί και μεγάλοι γέμισαν τις παραλίες, κοντινές και μακρινές. Εγώ είπα να πάω με κάτι φίλους από την Αγγλία που κάνουν διακοπές εδώ, προς το Σούνιο και να δροσιστούμε στην αμμουδιά κάτω από τον ναό του Ποσειδώνα. Δεν είναι ακριβώς ότι καλύτερο για μένα, με τόσο κόσμο, ιδιαίτερα μάλιστα μετά τις παραλίες των Κυθήρων, αλλά μ' αρέσει πολύ η περιοχή, και μ' αρέσει και η ιδέα νάχω τον Ποσειδώνα από πάνω μου να με προσέχει. Acropolis and the full moon. Η ακρόπολη και η πανσέληνος.

A full moon last night. And I decided for a walk around Acropolis downtown Athens. The night was cool and pleasant and nice to walk around. Only I was late going there. And the moon was high up the sky. Also Acropolis was closed due to works going on there for ever. And we could not go in. And photograph the moon over the ancient ruins. But I managed to get a few photographs of them from the outside.

Με την χθεσινή πανσέληνο ήταν ευκαιρία για μια βόλτα γύρω από την Ακρόπολη. Μόνο που άργησα λιγάκι και την ώρα που έφτασα το φεγγάρι ήταν ψηλά. Και η Ακρόπολη κλειστή και δεν μπόρεσα να τραβήξω φωτογραφίες και των δυό μαζί. Το μόνο που κατάφερα να τραβήξω μερικές φωτογραφίες απ' έξω.

A beautiful stretch of colorful grainy sand. With some really interesting features which we are going to explore together. Crystal clear waters tempting you never to go out of them. On the north western shore of the island of Kythera.

Η παραλία Λυκοδήμου στην βορεοδυτικη ακτή των Κυθήρων. Με όμορφη χρωματιστή άμμο. Και κρυστάλινα νερά. Δεν σούκανε καρδιά να βγεις έξω. εχει μερικά μοναδικά χαρακτηριστικά που θα εξερευνήσουμε μαζί.

Exploring Kythera. Εξερευνώντας τα Κύθηρα.

The island of Kythera is a small one between mainland Greece and Crete in the south. Sometimes, when we were looking for a new beach to visit and swim, we were finding pleasant surprises along the route, like this beautiful small valley.

Κάθε μέρα ψάχναμε να βρούμε ποιά καινούρια διαδρομή να κάνουμε, για να γνωρίσουμε όσο μπορούμε καλύτερα τα Κύθηρα τις λίγες μέρες που μείναμε εκεί. Πολλές φορές οι διαδρομές έκρυβαν όμορφες εκπλήξεις , σαν κι αυτήν την όμορφη καταπράσινη κοιλάδα, στα βορειοδυτικά του νησιού.

And there was always a reward at the end of the route.

Και πάντα υπήρχε ανταμοιβή στο τέλος της διαδρομής.

A nature swimming pool. Μια φυσική πισίνα.

On the shore of the village Avlemonas of Kythera. You can swim in these deep blue and crystal clear waters. And there is this old little fort, acting as a life guard house next to you. It is just a few steps from your door.

Λίγα μόνο βήματα από την πόρτα σας. Στο χωριό Αβλέμονας στα Κύθηρα. Μπορείτε να κολυμπήσετε στα βαθειά μπλέ και κρυστάλινα νερά. Και το μικρό παλιό οχυρό δίπλα σας να μοιαζει σαν την εξέδρα του ναυαγοσώστη.
