Under the eyes of Poseidon.

A hot day in Athens today. And it was a public holiday also. Everything is closed. For some it was an long weekend. For others another day of holidays. But for everyone an opportunity to escape to the sea, find some beach either close or a little further away from Athens. I decided to take some friends you are on holidays in here, to cape Sounion and go to the beach under the Temple of Poseidon there. It is not exactly my idea of going to the beach as it was crowded as you can see, especially after those beaches i had been at the island of Kythera, but I like the area and the idea of having the god Poseidon (Neptune), looking at us from up there. If you want to see more photographs from the temple and the area, check up my older post of mine here(Two posts).

It's so beautiful there. And the water is always so clear blue - so inviting.

Sometimes you just have to fight the crowds! Such a lovely setting but like you, I think I prefer less crowded spots to enjoy the sea.

Oh, I love the BLUE water -- in spite of all the people!! And you did manage to find a couple of quiet places! Thank you for a lovely get away, Costas! And, of course, your header took my breath away. I have such wonderful memories of being there at night and seeing it lit up, just like your capture! Thank you! Have a beautiful day!

Beautiful beach even though crowded... love your previous post, the acropolis, it appears to glow. Happened to stumble upon your blog and it's very interesting.

I was there 2 years ago in September, it was windy so the beach was rather empty:)On your pictures it is full of people and full of life

The title of your post captivated me. It must be wonderful to swim under Poseidon's watchful eye.
