Palms Sunday and Fasting.

In Greece, we are following the Greek Orthodox Dogma, by majority. Today, our Church, like many others is celebrating the memory of the Palms. To remember the entrance of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, when he was welcomed with palm leaves and branches. Just one week before Easter. Our Church, rules that there must be a period of six weeks fasting, before this Sunday, the Palms Sunday, before entering the week of the Holy Passion. During those six weeks, there should be no any animal product consumption, including meat, milk or cheese, so the bodies of the faithful along with their souls, should be purified to accept Jesus at Easter. This Sunday, as an exemption to that rule, after the six weeks of fasting, Christians are allowed to consume fish. I am not very religious myself, but I like some of the Churches' rules, when it is convenient to me, and as a long lasting tradition, we had seafood today, as I really like fish and other sea products. So the meal for today was fish and squid, in BBQ. Yummy..!!!
