Thanks for sharing your perspective Costas, you make Las Vegas look like a nice place to go and see. I'm glad you got to see the Grand Canyon. I am looking forward to the day I get too!
Your photos make the place look festive. I am impressed by the replication. Very un-nature, isn't it? I remember it only as being very depressing...I really HATE casinos...with the artificial lights and people losing their hard earned money! I've been there in the '80s and again about 5 years ago -- to visit my father-in-law at the hospital, but we did go on top of the Stratoshere for my son to ride the rollercoaster and other rides so far off the ground...yikes!
This version is even prettier than the real thing! Venice is beautiful, but this plastic version is it's epitome. I guess I'd rather be where the real Italians are, though... ;)
Those are beautiful shots. Sadly, Vegas (like so many other cities) has such opulence on it's famous strip, but only a block or two off of it there is poverty and need and rattle-trap houses. All the glitz and glamour is a show for us visitors...
It is beautiful and grotesque at the same time. I admire the creativity. The use of so much water both for the hotel decorations is something I really disapprove of. Las Vegas is a side of our culture that is troubling though sometimes fun. Wouldn't you like to see what future archaeologists have to say about it long after modern culture has sunk back into the deserts. nellie

How'd you manage to get so many great shots without hordes of people in them???
ReplyDeleteIt is all so surreal.
ReplyDeleteSurreal is an excellent descriptive word for Las Vegas...there's no other place else on earth like it...which is a good thing!
