Its water under the bridge (I).

These old stone structures always fascinate me. Every time i see them i am thinking about the amount of effort and time it took to build them, at the time they were built, with the means available at that time. There are many of them in the area of northwestern Greece and every time I visit the area I like to go to see and photograph them again. Some of those bridges were recently restored to their old glory recently, although they do not serve the purpose they were built at their time, as there are newer bridges built close, serving the needs of our days.
This one is close to the village Ziakas at the Grevena area of northern Greece. I took these photographs a couple of weeks ago, with the autumn colors painting the surrounding mountains.

There is a fountain with clear water next to the bridge to refresh the (summer) traveler.

  9. It's a very beautiful bridge - and Greece in the winter time is stunning - such soft colours and such clarity.

  10. Beautiful captures of that old bridge! And as you say, it is amazing what magnificent buildings they were able to build in old times. A lot of work with simple tools.

...and you have a wonderful new header! I love it! :)
