The new Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel at Mesta.

The village of Mesta, was built like a fort. There was an additional stronger tower, at the center of the village. It was blown down at around the middle of the 19th century, when it was no longer needed, using gunpowder, and in its place the church was built.

  4. How absolutely ornate and beautiful! Wow.

When you said the tower was 'blown down' in the 19th century, I pictured a huge windstorm. Then I read the part about the dynamite and had to giggle at my own imagination!
