Chios of Greece. An island with history, perfumes and hospitality(VI).

There is a beach at the south of the island of Chios. It is called "the black stones" or "black pebbles" (Μαύρα Βόλια-Mavra Volia in Greek), not without a reason. The  waters are cool and crystal clear but walking on the pebbles, after they have been exposed to the bright sun for a few hours, and if you are barefoot, its like trying to walk barefoot on a hot frying pan.

  1. Looks like basalt from deep in the ocean. Nice area for a swim, with water shoes.

  2. The water is so clear and inviting, and the pebbles look so cool!Difficult to imagine them being hot enough to give blisters on the feet.

  3. Beautiful and so inviting, but you would not want to be barefoot.

  6. Youch! It's flip-flops then. The sea looks so inviting I have to cross the pebbles somehow.
